Kaide Gordon was born on 5 October 2004 in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, and is of Jamaican descent. He began his development at Derby County, joining their academy at under-9 level in 2013 and working his way through the ranks before making his senior debut as a substitute in a 4–0 win over Birmingham City in December 2020 at just 16 years old.
His performances attracted attention quickly, and Liverpool signed him in February 2021 for a fee reported to be around £1 million, rising to £3 million with add-ons. He made his Liverpool debut in an EFL Cup tie against Norwich City in September 2021, and scored his first goal for the club against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup — a strike that made him Liverpool's youngest ever scorer in that competition and their second youngest goalscorer across all competitions. He made his Premier League debut in January 2022 as a substitute against Brentford.
A direct and energetic wide attacker, Gordon is capable of operating as a winger or attacking midfielder and uses his pace and movement to create chances in tight spaces.
Gordon has represented England at youth level, including appearances for the under-16s, under-18s, and the England Elite League squad. Liverpool continue to view him as a player with long-term potential within their setup, and he remains part of the club's squad as he works to establish himself at the highest level.
