Max Reuben Woltman was born on 20 August 2003 in England and joined Liverpool's academy at the age of seven, working his way through the club's youth ranks over more than a decade. He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in January 2021 and became a regular presence in the under-23 side during the 2021–22 Premier League 2 campaign.
The standout moment of his time at Anfield came on 7 December 2021, when he came on as a late substitute in Liverpool's final Champions League group stage match against AC Milan, a 2–1 victory. That appearance marked his senior debut and remains the most high-profile outing of his career to date.
A direct, attack-minded forward comfortable in central or slightly withdrawn roles, Woltman went out on loan to Doncaster Rovers in September 2022 before being recalled to Liverpool in January 2023. He then made a permanent move to Oxford United in August 2023 for an undisclosed fee, making his debut in an EFL Trophy group stage win over Northampton Town. He remained at Oxford until the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2024–25 season.
In October 2025, Woltman joined National League North side Macclesfield on a short-term deal, giving him a platform to build consistent senior minutes at a level where he can play regularly and develop further.
