Trent Toure Koné-Doherty was born on 30 June 2006 in Derry, Northern Ireland, and began his footballing education at local club Foyle Harps before joining Derry City's academy at the age of thirteen. He trained alongside the first team there and earned a place on the bench for a League of Ireland Premier Division fixture against St Patrick's Athletic while still fifteen, drawing attention from both Celtic and Liverpool in the process.
In July 2022, Liverpool secured his signature for a reported £150,000. He wasted little time making an impression, scoring nine goals in his first ten appearances for the club's youth sides. A Premier League 2 debut goal for the under-21s followed in August 2023, and he signed his first professional contract with the club in October of that year. He was named in Liverpool's first-team squad for a UEFA Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven in January 2025, then made his competitive senior debut as a substitute in a 1–0 FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Plymouth Argyle in February 2025.
In February 2026, Koné-Doherty joined Norwegian Eliteserien side Molde on a four-year deal, citing the desire for regular first-team football as his reason for leaving Liverpool. A direct, quick-footed forward, he is expected to develop his game with consistent minutes in Norway.
At international level, Koné-Doherty has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-16, under-17, and under-19 level, earning recognition as best player at the 2022 Miljan Miljanic Tournament in Serbia. He received his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland under-21 squad in August 2025.
