Jesse Lingard was born on 15 December 1992 in Warrington, Cheshire, and joined Manchester United's academy at the age of seven. After a series of loan spells at Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Derby County, he broke into the United first team under Louis van Gaal in the 2015–16 season.
Two moments stand out as the defining highlights of his career. In May 2016, he scored the extra-time winner in the FA Cup Final against Crystal Palace, and the following season he netted in the EFL Cup Final victory over Southampton — making him one of only three players to score in the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Community Shield finals. During that period he also collected a UEFA Europa League winner's medal with United.
A quick, creative attacking midfielder comfortable on either wing, Lingard is known for his ability to arrive late into the box and finish with composure under pressure.
A loan spell at West Ham United in 2021 revived his career, with nine goals and five assists in 16 appearances, earning him the Premier League Player of the Month award for April 2021. After leaving United permanently in 2022, he had stints at Nottingham Forest and South Korean club FC Seoul before joining Brazilian side Corinthians in March 2026.
For England, Lingard earned his senior debut in October 2016 and represented the nation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where England finished fourth. He accumulated 32 senior caps and scored 6 international goals during his international career.
