Melkamu Frauendorf was born on 12 January 2004 in Ethiopia and came through the youth ranks at 1899 Hoffenheim, where he scored 7 goals in 40 appearances for the U17 side before moving to Liverpool's academy in 2020.
He made his competitive first-team debut for Liverpool in an FA Cup third round tie against Shrewsbury Town on 9 January 2022, becoming one of the younger players to feature for the club in that competition. He followed that with a starting role against Derby County in the EFL Cup third round at Anfield in November 2022, a match Liverpool won.
A technically capable, dynamic midfielder, Frauendorf is comfortable operating in central areas and contributing to build-up play. He represents Germany at youth international level, having been capped across various age groups despite also being eligible for Ethiopia through his birth country.
After Liverpool announced his release alongside seven other academy players at the end of the 2023–24 season, Frauendorf joined Hannover 96 II in Germany's 3. Liga, before moving to Stuttgarter Kickers in July 2025. His current club, competing in Regionalliga Südwest, provides him with regular senior football as he looks to establish himself at professional level in Germany.
