Andi Zeqiri was born on 22 June 1999 in Geneva, Switzerland, to a family of Albanian-Kosovar origin. He grew up in Switzerland and came through the youth ranks at FC Lausanne and then Geneva-area football before developing into a forward whose physical directness and pressing intensity made him a valued option in Swiss domestic football.
He progressed through the Swiss Super League and attracted the attention of English clubs. Brighton and Hove Albion signed him and he spent time in England, but regular first-team football at Premier League level was difficult to secure and he went out on loan to gain senior experience. Loan spells at Championship clubs gave him English football experience at a competitive level.
He subsequently moved to Belgian football and to other European leagues, carving out a career that demonstrated resilience and adaptability. His background as a Geneva-born player of Kosovar heritage meant he was eligible for both Switzerland and Kosovo nationally, and he chose to represent Switzerland.
For Switzerland, Zeqiri has been in and around the national team pool as a forward option. The competition for attacking places in the Swiss squad — among Embolo, Okafor, Ndoye and others — has been intense, making it challenging to accumulate regular caps.
Standing around 1.77 m, Zeqiri is an energetic forward whose pressing, running power and technical finishing give him the profile of a useful squad contributor at both club and international level.
