Divock Origi was born on 18 April 1995 in Ostend, Belgium, and came through the youth ranks at Genk before moving to Lille at the age of 15. He made his senior debut for Lille in 2013, scoring as a substitute, and that form was enough to attract Liverpool, who signed him for £10 million in 2014 before loaning him back to Lille for another season.
Origi's defining moments came during Liverpool's 2018–19 Champions League campaign. He scored a crucial brace in the semi-final second leg against Barcelona, completing a remarkable comeback from 3–0 down on aggregate, and then netted Liverpool's second goal in the 2–0 final victory over Tottenham. He also played a part in Liverpool's 2019–20 Premier League title win — the club's first league championship in 30 years — as well as the domestic double of FA Cup and EFL Cup in 2021–22.
A powerful, direct striker with a knack for decisive goals in big matches, Origi was perhaps most valued for his impact from the bench rather than as a consistent starter.
On the international stage, Origi made his senior debut for Belgium in 2014 and featured at that year's World Cup, where he became the youngest goalscorer in Belgian World Cup history at 19 years old.
Origi signed for AC Milan in 2022 but struggled to make an impact, spending the 2023–24 season on loan at Nottingham Forest. His contract with Milan was terminated in December 2025 after limited appearances, leaving his future at club level unresolved.
