Cedric Itten was born on 27 December 1996 in Zurich, Switzerland. He developed as a centre-forward in the Swiss football system with a physical, direct style of play that made him effective as a targetman alongside more creative forwards. His aerial ability, hold-up play and willingness to run in behind defenders gave him a profile suited to a number nine role.
He progressed through Swiss football at clubs including FC Basel, gaining Super League experience and the technical refinement that Basel's football culture traditionally demands. A move to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership provided different experience — playing in a high-pressure environment at a club with enormous supporter expectations, competing in both the domestic league and European competition.
He subsequently returned to Swiss football, re-establishing himself in the Super League with BSC Young Boys, where his goalscoring and contribution in attack helped the club maintain its domestic dominance during a successful period.
For Switzerland, Itten provided an alternative forward option — a different physical profile from the more fleet-footed attackers such as Embolo and Ndoye. His ability to hold up play and bring others into the game made him a useful option from the bench or as a starter in certain tactical setups.
Standing around 1.90 m, Itten is a tall, physically imposing centre-forward whose combination of aerial strength and technical finishing gives him the profile of a classic number nine suited to Swiss and northern European football systems.
