Byron Webster was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, and grew up in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire. He made his senior debut for York City in December 2004 in the Conference National, going on to represent a string of clubs across the Football League pyramid before establishing himself as a reliable, physically commanding centre-back.
Webster's career has been defined by a knack for appearing in memorable promotion campaigns. He was part of the Yeovil Town side that beat Brentford 2–1 in the 2013 League One play-off final at Wembley, sending the club to the Championship for the first time in their history. He then played in Millwall's 1–0 victory over Bradford City in the 2017 League One play-off final, again at Wembley, helping the Lions return to the Championship after a two-year absence.
After spells at Doncaster Rovers, Northampton Town, Scunthorpe United, and Carlisle United, Webster joined National League club Bromley in September 2020. His time there produced perhaps the defining moment of his career: in May 2024 he captained Bromley in the National League play-off final, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout to send the club into the English Football League for the first time in their history. The following season brought further success as Bromley won the EFL League Two title in 2025–26.
A no-nonsense, physically robust centre-back, Webster has built his reputation on consistency and leadership across the lower divisions. He signed a new contract with Bromley in May 2025, though he subsequently announced his departure at the end of the 2025–26 season following the club's promotion to League One.
