Zion Uno was born on 20 November 2003 in Fukushima. He came through Machida Zelvia's youth ranks and helped the club win the J2 League in 2023. Machida loaned him to Shimizu S-Pulse in summer 2024, where he played 12 J2 matches with 2 goals.
In January 2025 he moved permanently to Shimizu. He is one of the J2 League's most exciting young midfielders.
For Japan, Uno was a member of the squad that won the EAFF E-1 Football Championship in 2025, playing 2 tournament matches.
A 176cm two-footed attacking midfielder with elite ball-control and the technical security to play multiple central roles, Uno is one of Japan's most exciting young creative midfielders. He is a candidate for the wider 2026 FIFA World Cup squad as a young midfielder development option.
