Khuliso Johnson Mudau was born on 26 April 1995 in Musina, Limpopo. His route was not that of an early academy celebrity: he played through Magesi and Black Leopards before earning the move that changed his career, a 2020 transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns.
At Sundowns he grew from a domestic full-back into one of Africa's best right-backs. He won repeated South African league titles, played in the CAF Champions League, and became trusted in matches where Sundowns needed both defensive speed and attacking width on the same flank.
By 2026 he remains a key Sundowns defender, often used as a right-back who can lock down wingers and still arrive high enough to combine in possession. His consistency has made him one of the least replaceable players in a squad full of internationals.
For South Africa he became Hugo Broos' first-choice right-back and was central to the 2023 AFCON bronze-medal finish. In the 2026 World Cup qualifying cycle he gave Bafana Bafana a genuine modern full-back, able to defend one-against-one and support attacks without leaving the side open.
Standing around 1.81 m, Mudau is a right-footed full-back with speed, upper-body strength and elite recovery running. His profile invites comparison with a South African Achraf Hakimi in role, though Mudau is more conservative and duel-focused than the Moroccan star.
