Masato Morishige is a Japanese defender born in Hiroshima in 1987. He began his professional career with Oita Trinita and won the J.League Cup there before moving to FC Tokyo, where he became a long-serving centre-back and captain. Morishige has been selected to the J.League Best XI and has also played as a defensive midfielder when required. For Japan, he earned senior caps during the 2010s and was part of the national-team pool around the 2014 FIFA World Cup cycle.
