Ryo Germain was born on 19 April 1995 in Atsugi, Kanagawa, Japan. He came through Vegalta Sendai's youth ranks and developed into one of the J1 League's most prolific forwards across multiple clubs. After Vegalta, he moved to Yokohama FC in January 2021, then to Júbilo Iwata in January 2022.
His Júbilo career was outstanding. The 2024 season produced 32 J1 matches with 19 goals — the kind of strike rate that earned him a transfer to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in January 2025. The 2025 Sanfrecce season has been productive: 36 J1 matches with 4 goals and 3 assists, 7 AFC Champions League Elite matches with a goal, plus Super Cup honours.
For Japan, Germain was outstanding at the 2025 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, scoring 5 goals in 3 matches and contributing 4 goals plus 3 assists across the wider 2025 friendly campaign — the tournament's top scorer for Japan.
A 182cm two-footed centre forward with the goal-scoring instinct of a senior J1 striker and the work rate to lead from the front, Germain has emerged as one of the J1 League's most reliable scorers in his late 20s. He is in the senior 2026 FIFA World Cup squad picture as a J-League-based striker option.
