Won Du-jae was born on 18 November 1997 in South Korea. After university football he moved to Japan with Avispa Fukuoka, where he learned senior football in a demanding environment before returning to Korea with Ulsan Hyundai in 2020.
At Ulsan he became a versatile defensive midfielder and centre-back, contributing to one of the club's strongest modern periods. He won the 2020 AFC Champions League and later served his military duty with Gimcheon Sangmu, a stage that kept him playing competitive domestic football while fulfilling an obligation common to Korean players.
After discharge in 2024, Won transferred to Khor Fakkan in the UAE Pro League. As of May 2026 he is associated with Khor Fakkan, giving him a West Asian club base and experience in a league where physical duels and slower possession rhythms differ from the K League.
Won has represented South Korea at youth and Olympic levels and has been part of senior squads when the team needs a defensive midfielder who can also drop into the back line. His national-team use has been intermittent, but his skill set remains useful in tournament squads.
At around 1.87 m, Won is a right-footed holding midfielder/centre-back hybrid. His profile is comparable to Jung Woo-young's screening role, with the added height and back-line flexibility that make him valuable when Korea need to protect leads or manage aerial pressure.
