Xavi Simons was born on 21 April 2003 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and came through Barcelona's celebrated La Masia academy from a young age. In 2019 he joined Paris Saint-Germain's youth ranks and made his Ligue 1 debut as a teenager. After winning Ligue 1 in 2021–22, the Coupe de France in 2020–21, and the Trophée des Champions, he moved on loan to PSV Eindhoven in 2022 — a transformative season that produced 22 Eredivisie goals.
PSG bought him back for €6 million in summer 2023 but immediately loaned him to RB Leipzig, where he became a Bundesliga sensation. The 2023–24 season produced 25 Bundesliga matches with 10 goals and 6 assists; the loan was made permanent in January 2025. In August 2025 Tottenham signed Simons in a marquee move.
His Tottenham debut season has been outstanding: 28 Premier League matches with 2 goals and 5 assists by mid-season, plus 10 UEFA Champions League matches with 3 goals and an assist — a remarkable adaptation to English football for a 22-year-old.
For the Netherlands, Simons was one of Euro 2024's stand-out attackers, scoring once and providing 3 assists in 6 matches as the Oranje reached the semi-finals. He has continued to be a Netherlands creative regular across Nations League and 2026 World Cup qualifying.
A two-footed attacking midfielder with elite ball-control, vision and a knack for arriving in the box, Simons is one of European football's most exciting young creators and a likely starter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
