Asmir Begović is a Bosnian goalkeeper born in Trebinje and raised partly in Canada. He developed at Portsmouth, gained senior experience through loans, and established himself in English football with Stoke City, where his long kicking and shot-stopping made him a Premier League regular. He later played for Chelsea, Bournemouth, AC Milan, Everton and Queens Park Rangers. Internationally, Begović represented Canada at youth level before choosing Bosnia and Herzegovina, becoming one of the country’s most capped goalkeepers and playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
