Born on 1 January 1996 in Duffel, Belgium — where his father, former Brazilian professional Marcos Pereira, was playing at the time — Andreas Pereira began his youth career at nearby Lommel before joining PSV at the age of nine. A strong performance at the Manchester United Premier Cup in 2011 attracted interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, but a personal visit from manager Alex Ferguson convinced him to sign for United. He made his Premier League debut in March 2015 against Tottenham Hotspur and went on to represent the club in the top flight across several seasons, interspersed with loan spells at Granada, Valencia, Lazio, and Flamengo.
Among his defining moments at United was a Premier League goal against Southampton on 2 March 2019 — voted the club's Goal of the Season for 2018–19 — and a starting role in the memorable Champions League last-16 second leg comeback win over PSG. After leaving United, he signed for Fulham in July 2022 and made 119 appearances for the club before departing in August 2025.
A technically composed, box-to-box midfielder with an eye for long-range efforts, Pereira returned to Brazil to join Palmeiras in August 2025, where he scored a brace on 21 September in a 4–1 win over Fortaleza.
Eligible for both Belgium and Brazil, he made his senior Brazil debut in September 2018 against El Salvador — notably the first player in over a century to represent Brazil while having been born outside the country. He was included in Brazil's squad for the 2024 Copa América.
