Luka Sučić was born on 8 September 2002 in Austria to Croatian parents, making him eligible for both nations. He came through the Red Bull Salzburg academy, one of Europe's foremost development structures, and made his senior debut at the club in the Austrian Bundesliga before breaking into regular first-team action. Red Bull Salzburg's pipeline — which has produced players such as Erling Haaland, Karim Adeyemi and Dominik Szoboszlai — gave Sučić an intense footballing education in pressing, positional play and European competition.
He opted to represent Croatia at international level and has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the squad, bringing technical quality, directness and a composure beyond his years. His performances in the UEFA Champions League with Salzburg accelerated his development and drew attention from clubs across Europe.
For Croatia, Sučić is considered one of the most promising players of his generation — a technical midfielder who can operate with and without the ball in the mould demanded by modern high-pressing sides. He featured in Croatia's squad for the 2024 European Championship, where the side exited at the group stage, gaining experience at the highest international level.
Sučić combines an ability to drive at defenders, deliver incisive passes and arrive late into the box with a defensive intensity unusual for a player of his age, reflecting the principles instilled at Salzburg.
At the 2026 World Cup in North America, Sučić enters as one of Croatia's generational talents, part of a squad navigating the transition from the Modrić era while competing to make a deep run in the tournament.
