Jon Mikel Aramburu Mejías was born on 23 July 2002 in Caracas, Venezuela. He began at Deportivo La Guaira and spent a formative period connected to Real Sociedad's academy environment before returning to Venezuela because of youth-transfer regulations. That unusual path gave him both Venezuelan competitive roots and an early taste of the Basque club's technical standards.
After senior beginnings with Deportivo La Guaira, Aramburu returned to Spain with Real Unión, where his performances in the lower divisions drew Real Sociedad's attention again. He joined the San Sebastián club's structure and moved from the B team into the first-team picture, a rise that depended on his defensive intensity, speed and ability to handle the tactical demands of La Liga full-back play.
By 2026 he is a Real Sociedad first-team right-back and one of the most-used players in that position for the club. Injuries and squad changes around him increased his responsibility, but he responded by giving La Real energy, recovery pace and courage in duels. His long-term contract through 2030 reflects how quickly he moved from prospect to serious senior asset.
For Venezuela he debuted in 2023 and quickly became one of the most exciting defenders in the national pool. He scored against Paraguay in 2026 World Cup qualifying in October 2024, a moment that symbolized his ability to contribute beyond pure defending. He was part of the Copa América 2024 group and has become an important piece in a side trying to defend with discipline while also giving full-backs permission to attack.
Standing 1.76 m, Aramburu is a right-footed full-back whose best traits are acceleration, tackling bite and repeated high-speed recoveries. He can defend wide spaces, press aggressively and still overlap when the attack develops. His style recalls a more compact version of Dani Carvajal or Nahuel Molina: a full-back who plays with edge, stamina and enough technique to survive in elite possession leagues.
