Marcelo Josemir Saracchi Pintos was born on 23 April 1998 in Paysandú. Danubio developed his acceleration, tenacity and left-sided aggression.
River Plate signed him in 2017, and RB Leipzig bought him in 2018. Injuries and competition complicated his European rise, followed by Galatasaray, Levante and Boca Juniors spells.
In 2026 he joined Celtic on loan from Boca, giving him a fresh European stage. It was another restart in a career repeatedly shaped by physical interruptions and obvious talent.
For Uruguay he debuted in the late 2010s and has remained around the wider pool when fit. Left-back competition is fierce, but his pace keeps him relevant.
Around 1.72 m and left-footed, Saracchi is best when sprinting forward, pressing and recovering. He resembles a more explosive, less controlled Álvaro Pereira.
