Auston Trusty was born on August 12, 1998, in Media, Pennsylvania, and came through the Philadelphia Union academy system before signing a homegrown player deal with the club in 2016. He made his MLS debut for the Union in March 2018 and went on to establish himself as a reliable presence in central defense, before a trade took him to the Colorado Rapids in late 2019.
Arsenal signed Trusty in January 2022, and he spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Birmingham City in the EFL Championship, where he earned the club's Player of the Season award after making 44 appearances in all competitions and contributing four goals. A subsequent loan move to Sheffield United in August 2023 gave him his Premier League debut.
In August 2024, Trusty signed a five-year deal with Scottish Premiership club Celtic, where he has since won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup in the 2024–25 season. He is a composed, physically assured centre-back who reads the game well and contributes in both penalty areas.
At international level, Trusty made his senior debut for the United States on March 24, 2023, in a CONCACAF Nations League match against Grenada, and he was part of the squad that won the 2022–23 CONCACAF Nations League. He also represented the US at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the FIFA U-20 World Cup, scoring in the latter tournament.
