Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was born on 15 August 1993 in Portsmouth, England, and came through the Southampton Academy from the age of seven. He broke into the first team at 16 and caught the eye during the 2010–11 League One season, finishing with nine goals as Southampton won promotion, earning him a place in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
In August 2011 he joined Arsenal for around £12 million. He quickly made his mark by becoming the youngest Englishman to score in the UEFA Champions League, netting against Olympiacos in September 2011. During six seasons at Arsenal he made 198 appearances, scored 20 goals, and won the FA Cup three times. He then moved to Liverpool in August 2017 for £35 million, where he added a Champions League winner's medal (2018–19) and a Premier League title (2019–20), though serious knee injuries disrupted much of his time at the club. After leaving Liverpool in 2023 he joined Turkish side Beşiktaş, where he won the Türkiye Kupası in 2023–24, before moving to Celtic in early 2025.
A direct, energetic midfielder with the ability to carry the ball at pace and contribute goals from midfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain has always offered attacking threat alongside his industry. Celtic will likely see him as an experienced option to provide depth and versatility across the midfield.
He made his England senior debut in May 2012 against Norway and has earned 35 caps, scoring seven goals, with his most recent appearance in 2019.
