Lloyd Casius Kelly was born on 6 October 1998 in Bristol, England, of Jamaican descent. After spending much of his childhood in foster care, he came through Bristol City's academy from age 12 and made his senior debut in August 2017, being named the club's Young Player of the Year that season.
In May 2019 Bournemouth signed him for around £13 million, where he became a key defender and eventually captain, helping the club win promotion and earning EFL Championship Team of the Season selection in 2021-22. After his contract expired in 2024 he joined Newcastle United on a free transfer but played only ten Premier League games before joining Juventus on loan in February 2025.
In May 2025 Juventus made the move permanent for around €17.5 million plus bonuses, and he scored his first Bianconeri goal against Inter Milan in a 4-3 win in September 2025.
He has represented England at U20 and U21 level, including two European Championships (2019, 2021).
Standing 1.90 m, Kelly is a left-footed centre-back who can also operate as a left-back. His combination of pace, aerial ability and confidence in possession was exactly the modern profile Juventus added when refreshing the back line under Igor Tudor and his successors.
