Gleison Bremer Silva Nascimento, known as Bremer, was born on 18 March 1997 in Itapitanga, Brazil, and came through Atlético Mineiro's academy. In 2018 Italian side Torino signed him, and over four seasons he developed into one of Serie A's most physically dominant centre-backs, earning the award for Best Defender of Serie A in 2021-22.
In summer 2022 Juventus signed him for around €41 million plus bonuses, beating off interest from Inter Milan in one of the most coveted defender deals of that summer. He won the 2023-24 Coppa Italia and was widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Italy until a serious knee injury in 2024 ruled him out for an extended period; Juventus have integrated him carefully back into the squad through 2025-26.
For Brazil he made his senior debut in 2022 and has been involved in Seleção squads at the Copa América and World Cup qualifiers, picking up senior caps under multiple coaches.
A 1.88 m left-footed centre-back, Bremer combines elite physical strength, aerial dominance, recovery defending and increasing comfort on the ball, and is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world when fully fit — a view shared by both Italian and Brazilian media throughout his Serie A career.
