Alexander Sørloth was born on 5 December 1995 in Trondheim, Norway. The son of former Rosenborg striker Gøran Sørloth, he came through Rosenborg's academy and built early exposure on a 2015 loan at Bodø/Glimt (13 league goals in 26 matches). His career then traversed Europe — Groningen, Midtjylland, Crystal Palace, Trabzonspor (29 goals in 2019–20 on loan), RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad (two loan seasons), and Villarreal, where he scored 23 La Liga goals in 2023–24.
Atlético Madrid signed him in August 2024 for around €32 million. His debut campaign was sensational: he became the club's top La Liga scorer with 20 goals, and on 10 May 2025 he scored four against Real Sociedad — including a hat-trick in just four minutes, surpassing David Villa's previous club record. He has continued as a key attacking option through 2025–26.
A 1.95 m two-footed centre-forward with aerial dominance, hold-up play, and surprisingly nimble footwork for his size, Sørloth has earned 70+ Norway senior caps with 26 international goals since his 2016 debut. His Instagram post from May 2021 — driven by Trabzonspor supporters demanding his return — became, briefly, the most-commented Instagram post by an athlete, illustrating the depth of feeling he generates in cult fanbases as well as his elite-club statistical output.
