Alejandro Baena Rodríguez, known as Álex Baena, is a Spanish left midfielder and attacking midfielder born in Roquetas de Mar on 20 July 2001. He joined Villarreal's youth setup in 2011 and moved through the C team, B team and first team, making his senior breakthrough in 2020. A loan to Girona in 2021-22 gave him regular second-division football before he returned to Villarreal as a first-team player. In 2023-24 he led La Liga in assists, and in 2025 he signed for Atlético Madrid. Baena scored on his senior Spain debut in 2023, won UEFA Euro 2024, and also won Olympic gold with Spain in Paris.
