Lisandro Martínez is an Argentine centre-back born in Gualeguay in 1998. He came through Newell's Old Boys and developed at Defensa y Justicia before joining Ajax in 2019. At Ajax he became a regular defender, won two Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup, and was named the club's player of the year for 2021-22. Manchester United signed him in 2022, and he won the EFL Cup in his first season and the FA Cup in 2023-24. Martínez made his senior Argentina debut in 2019 after youth international appearances. He was part of the squads that won the 2021 Copa América, 2022 Finalissima, 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2024 Copa América.
