Tomáš Souček was born on 27 February 1995 in Havlíčkův Brod, Czech Republic. He came through Slavia Prague's academy and developed into a tall, hard-running midfielder, gaining senior experience through loans before becoming one of the dominant players in the Czech league.
At Slavia he won domestic titles and played important European matches, building a reputation for late runs into the box and aerial strength. West Ham United first signed him on loan in January 2020 and quickly made the move permanent after he helped the club survive a difficult Premier League season. His impact was immediate and unusually clear for a mid-season signing.
At West Ham United he became a defining player of the David Moyes era and remained a major figure beyond it. He scored vital Premier League goals, formed an effective midfield partnership with Declan Rice, and helped the club win the 2022-23 UEFA Europa Conference League. Even when possession demands changed, his set-piece threat and defensive work kept him important.
For the Czech Republic he has been a senior international since 2016 and later became captain. He has represented his country at the European Championship and in World Cup qualifying, often acting as the emotional and physical centre of the team.
Standing 1.92 m, Souček is a right-footed midfielder whose game is built on endurance, heading, penalty-box timing and defensive sacrifice. He is often compared to Marouane Fellaini because of his aerial impact from midfield, though Souček is more disciplined in covering space and less purely chaotic in possession.
