Antonio Vergara was born on 16 January 2003 in Frattaminore, near Naples, and joined Napoli's youth academy in 2014 after passing through several other regional setups. He signed his first professional contract with Napoli on 11 March 2021.
To gain senior experience he was sent on loan to Pro Vercelli in Serie C for 2022-23 (34 appearances, 3 goals), then to AC Reggiana in Serie B from 2023 to 2025, where he made 39 appearances and scored five goals despite an anterior cruciate ligament injury disrupting his first season there.
In summer 2025 he returned to Napoli and broke into the senior side. He made his Serie A debut on 23 August 2025 against Sassuolo, scored his first competitive goal for the club in a Champions League fixture against Chelsea on 28 January 2026, was named Serie A Rising Star of the Month for February 2026 and contributed to Napoli's 2025-26 Supercoppa Italiana win.
He has earned at least one cap for Italy at U19 level (February 2022).
An attacking midfielder who can play wide, Vergara is regarded by Napoli as a homegrown talent worth integrating slowly into a senior squad full of internationals — and the early signs are that he can be a long-term creative option from the bench.
