Sam Beukema was born on 17 November 1998 in Deventer, Netherlands. He came through Go Ahead Eagles, making his Eerste Divisie debut in September 2017, and over four seasons at the club logged 66 league appearances and 9 goals.
In March 2021 AZ Alkmaar signed him on a contract through 2026. Across two Eredivisie seasons he made 50 appearances and was twice named to the league's monthly Team of the Month. In July 2023 Bologna paid around €10 million for him, and across two Serie A seasons he played 65 league matches and helped the club win the 2024-25 Coppa Italia.
On 20 July 2025 Napoli signed him on a five-year contract. He scored on his Serie A debut for Napoli in a 3-1 away win over Fiorentina on 13 September 2025, and was part of the squad that won the 2025-26 Supercoppa Italiana.
For the Netherlands he made his senior debut in 2024 and has continued to be involved in Oranje squads.
A 1.88 m centre-back, Beukema is technically tidy on the ball and confident as a defender who steps out to win it high — exactly the modern profile Napoli wanted to add alongside Buongiorno, Rrahmani and Juan Jesus.
