Ikoma-Loïs Openda was born on 16 February 2000 in Liège, Belgium, to Moroccan and Congolese parents. He came through Standard Liège before joining Club Brugge's academy in 2015 and made his senior debut in August 2018.
After limited Pro League opportunities he was loaned to Vitesse in the Eredivisie in 2020-2022, scoring 28 goals in two seasons. In 2022 RC Lens signed him on a five-year deal; in 2022-23 he scored 21 goals in 38 league matches and on 12 March 2023 set a Ligue 1 record by scoring the fastest hat-trick in league history (4 minutes 30 seconds) against Clermont.
In July 2023 RB Leipzig paid around €43-46 million plus bonuses for him, and he topped the club's scoring charts in 2023-24 with 24 Bundesliga goals (third in the league). On 1 September 2025 Juventus signed him on loan with an obligation to buy worth around €40.6 million subject to performance conditions, and he wears the number 20 shirt.
For Belgium, Openda made his senior debut in 2022 and has earned around 30 caps with several goals, featuring at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.
A 1.80 m left-footed centre-forward, Openda is built around acceleration, sharp movement on the shoulder of defenders and clinical finishing — a "fox in the box" profile that has made him one of the most prolific scorers across multiple top European leagues.
