Devyne Fabian Jairo Rensch was born on 18 December 2002 in Lelystad, Netherlands, to a Surinamese-descended family. He came through Ajax's youth system from 2016 and made his senior debut on 28 November 2020 in an Eredivisie game against FC Emmen.
Across five seasons in Amsterdam he made 105 league appearances and won two Eredivisie titles (2020-21, 2021-22) and the 2020-21 KNVB Cup. He received the Abdelhak Nouri Trophy as Ajax's best young academy graduate in November 2020 and was named to the Eredivisie Team of the Month in September 2024.
In January 2025 Roma signed him on a long-term contract, and he wears the number 2 shirt — joining the wider Roma project to refresh the back line behind Mancini, Ndicka and Çelik.
For the Netherlands at youth level he won the 2019 UEFA U17 European Championship. He earned his senior debut on 7 September 2021 against Turkey in a World Cup qualifier (a 6-1 win), replacing Denzel Dumfries.
A 1.81 m versatile defender who is most often used as a right-back but can also play at centre-back, Rensch is a clean, possession-friendly full-back from the modern Ajax mould — exactly the profile Roma have wanted alongside their Italian-style centre-backs.
