Obite Evan Ndicka was born on 20 August 1999 in Paris, France, to a Cameroonian father and an Ivorian mother. He came through AJ Auxerre's academy and made his senior debut in January 2017 at 17. After 14 senior appearances Eintracht Frankfurt signed him in 2018 for around €5.5 million on a five-year deal.
Across five seasons in Frankfurt he became a cornerstone defender, won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award in February 2019 and was a starter in the side that won the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League against Rangers — earning a place in that season's Bundesliga Team of the Year.
In June 2023 he joined Roma on a free transfer with a five-year contract. He has since made more than 90 Serie A appearances and was the first Roma outfield player since 2004 to play every minute of all 38 league matches in 2024-25, earning Serie A Team of the Season selection.
Originally a France youth international, he switched allegiance to Côte d'Ivoire in June 2023, made his senior debut in September 2023 and was part of the squad that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil in February 2024.
Standing 1.92 m and left-footed, Ndicka is a calm, ball-playing centre-back who combines aerial strength with the ability to step out of the back line and progress play, and is a key part of Roma's modern back-three setup.
