Pierluigi Gollini was born on 18 March 1995 in Bologna, Italy, and developed through youth academies at SPAL, Fiorentina and Manchester United before starting his senior career at Hellas Verona in 2014, making his Serie A debut against Genoa.
He moved to Aston Villa in 2016 but struggled, before joining Atalanta on loan in January 2017 and signing permanently in June 2018. From 2018 to 2025 he was a key part of Atalanta's rise, starting every match in their debut Champions League season. He had loan spells at Tottenham, Fiorentina, Napoli — winning the 2022-23 Serie A title with Napoli — and Genoa, before joining Roma permanently in January 2025 to back up Mile Svilar.
For Italy he played at multiple youth levels and earned one senior cap as a substitute in 2019.
He is also a notable musician outside football, having released a rap single under the pseudonym "Gollorius" in 2018, with proceeds donated to charity.
A 1.94 m goalkeeper with strong reflexes, big presence in the box and good distribution, Gollini is the kind of experienced, multi-club Serie A backup who allows Roma to trust their first-choice keeper structure on long, demanding Italian-and-European seasons.
