Montrell Culbreath was born on 29 August 2007 in Landstuhl, near Kaiserslautern, Germany, and is a German-American eligible to represent both nations. He started briefly at local side Spesbach before joining Kaiserslautern's youth ranks at around nine years old.
In summer 2023 Bayer Leverkusen signed him from Kaiserslautern's U17s, and he made an instant impression with 10 goals and 2 assists for the U17 team in 2023-24. He earned a senior call-up for Leverkusen's 20 December 2025 Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig and marked his professional debut with a goal off the bench in a 3-1 win. On 29 January 2026 he signed his first professional contract through 30 June 2030.
He has represented both Germany and the United States in youth international football, with around 35 caps and 8 goals across age groups. Leverkusen first-team coach Kasper Hjulmand has publicly praised his progression in great depth.
A right winger built around speed, dribbling and goal contribution, Culbreath is one of the most exciting young dual-eligible attackers in European football and Leverkusen are integrating him carefully alongside more experienced wide players.
Public information about him is still developing, and this profile will be updated as more career and biographical detail becomes confirmed from independent sources.
