Daichi Kamada was born on 5 August 1996 in Ehime, Japan. He came through Higashiyama High School in Kyoto and signed with J1 League club Sagan Tosu ahead of the 2015 season, where he developed into a reliable, technically refined midfielder over three seasons.
In June 2017 Kamada moved to Germany, joining Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported €1.6 million. A loan spell at Sint-Truiden in 2018–19 proved a turning point — 16 goals in 36 appearances earned him a clear path back into the Frankfurt first team. He went on to win the DFB-Pokal in 2017–18, scored a hat-trick against Red Bull Salzburg in the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League, and in 2021–22 lifted the Europa League itself. After a single season at Lazio in Serie A on a free transfer in 2023, he joined Crystal Palace in summer 2024, again on a free.
His first season at Selhurst Park exceeded all expectations: 35 Premier League appearances, the FA Cup in 2024–25 — Crystal Palace's first major trophy — and the Community Shield to follow in August 2025. By 2025–26 he had become the creative pivot of Oliver Glasner's team, scoring his first European goal for the club in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
A composed, ball-progressing attacking midfielder who reads space exceptionally well, Kamada made his senior Japan debut in 2019 and was part of the squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has continued to feature regularly for the national team alongside his club commitments.
