Juan Pablo Goicochea del Carpio was born on 12 January 2005 in Lima, Peru. He emerged from Alianza Lima's youth structure as a centre-forward prospect, earning attention for his size, penalty-box instincts and early involvement with Peru's youth national teams.
He made his senior debut for Alianza Lima as a teenager, then moved to Platense in Argentina, a step designed to place him in a more competitive development environment. In 2026 he joined Defensor Sporting in Uruguay on loan, seeking the regular minutes that young strikers need.
By May 2026 he was with Defensor Sporting, still owned by Platense, and working to convert promise into senior consistency. His role is to lead the line, attack crosses and learn how to compete physically against older centre-backs in the Uruguayan league.
For Peru he has been involved at youth level and made his senior debut in the mid-2020s, during a period when the national team was searching urgently for the next centre-forward generation. His inclusion is as much about future planning as immediate production.
Standing around 1.84 m, Goicochea is a right-footed striker whose height, movement and finishing potential make him one of Peru's more interesting young number nines. He can be compared with a younger Paolo Guerrero for penalty-box presence, though he is still far earlier in his development and closer to Alex Valera's direct style.
