Jamshid Mahmudovich Iskanderov was born on 16 October 1993 in Urganch, in the Khorezm region of western Uzbekistan. He emerged from Uzbek domestic football as a small, left-footed attacking midfielder, technically gifted enough to play between lines and brave enough to demand the ball in central areas even when space was limited.
Pakhtakor and Lokomotiv Tashkent shaped the most important domestic years of his career. He became associated with successful, possession-oriented sides, winning league and cup honours and developing a reputation as one of the most creative Uzbek midfielders of his generation. Later spells in Korea and the Gulf broadened his tactical experience, even when he was not always a guaranteed starter abroad.
He returned to Uzbekistan and by May 2026 is listed with Neftchi Fergana, giving him a senior creative role in a historic domestic club. At this stage of his career he is no longer judged only by raw athletic output; his value lies in finding pockets, manipulating tempo and offering a left-footed final pass when matches become tight.
For Uzbekistan he debuted in 2013 during the 2014 World Cup qualification cycle and has lived through the national team's long near-miss era before the breakthrough to the 2026 finals. He featured in Asian Cup squads and qualifying campaigns, and his longevity gives the current group a link to the previous generation that repeatedly came close to World Cup qualification.
At around 1.70 m, Iskanderov is a compact left-footed attacking midfielder, most comfortable as a number ten or advanced eight. His style is closer to a domestic-league version of Santi Cazorla than to a power runner: quick touch, disguised passing and balance in tight areas are his weapons, while physical duels and long defensive recovery runs are managed through intelligence rather than force.
