Jadel Chanda Katongo was born on 24 September 2004 in England to a Zambian father and British mother. He joined Manchester City's academy at the under-9 stage and progressed steadily through the ranks, notably becoming the youngest member of their U18 title-winning squad in the 2020–21 season. He made his first senior appearances for City in the EFL Trophy during the 2022–23 campaign.
Katongo gained meaningful first-team experience via loan spells at Peterborough United, where he scored on his debut against Cambridge United in a 2-0 EFL Trophy win in August 2023. He went on to win back-to-back EFL Trophy titles with Peterborough in 2023–24 and 2024–25, giving him his first senior honours. A second loan spell at the club followed from August 2024 before he made a permanent step forward in January 2026, joining Turkish Süper Lig side Kayserispor.
Described as a ball-playing centre-half who can also operate at right-back, Katongo offers composure in possession and versatility across the defensive and midfield lines.
On the international front, Katongo is a youth international for England, earning his first England U20 cap on 12 October 2023 in a 2–0 defeat to Romania. Despite holding eligibility for Zambia through his father and receiving interest from the Zambian setup — including an invitation from coach Avram Grant in 2023 — he has committed to the England pathway at youth level. His parent club Manchester City retain his registration as he continues his development at Kayserispor.
