Miguel Gianpierre Araujo Blanco was born on 24 October 1994 in Lima, Peru. He grew up in the capital's football culture and came through the Alianza Lima system, a pathway that exposed him early to pressure, rivalry and the expectation attached to one of the country's biggest clubs. As a youth international he was already marked out as a defender with senior-level concentration.
Araujo's early professional years were split between Alianza Lima, Red Star Belgrade and loan football before he settled into a stronger rhythm at Talleres and then Alianza again. His most important mid-career step came in the Netherlands with FC Emmen, where he learned to defend in a more open league and became a regular centre-back against quicker transition attacks.
After a spell with Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer, he returned to Peru with Sporting Cristal, where he is used as an experienced centre-back who can lead a line and cover younger defenders. That domestic return placed him back in the weekly Peruvian football conversation while keeping him visible for the national team.
For Peru he debuted in the 2010s and was part of the squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Peru's first World Cup appearance since 1982. He has also been involved across Copa América campaigns and the 2026 qualifying cycle, often as a depth centre-back behind or alongside the older core.
Standing around 1.78 m, Araujo is a right-footed central defender who relies more on timing, aggression and anticipation than on towering height. His compact style, recovery tackling and willingness to defend forward have drawn local comparisons with Alberto Rodríguez, while his calmer passing phases resemble a more conservative Carlos Zambrano.
