Ryuya Morishita was born on 11 April 1997 in Shizuoka, Japan. He came through Sagan Tosu's youth ranks and joined Nagoya Grampus in January 2021. With Nagoya he won the J.League Cup in 2021. In December 2023 he moved to Polish side Legia Warszawa.
His Legia career was outstanding. The 2024 season produced 17 Ekstraklasa matches with 4 goals and an assist, 2 cup matches, and 12 UEFA Europa Conference League matches with 3 goals and an assist as Legia advanced in European competition. He won the Polish Cup in 2024–25 with Legia.
In August 2025 Blackburn Rovers signed Morishita. His Championship debut season has been outstanding: 37 league matches with 4 goals and 9 assists. He has continued to feature for Japan with a goal in 2 senior friendlies in 2025.
A 170cm two-footed left-sided attacker / wide midfielder with elite work rate, dribbling and the goal-scoring instinct of a creator who can finish, Morishita has carved out a unique career path through Japan, Poland and now England's Championship. He is a candidate for the 2026 FIFA World Cup wider squad as a wide attacking option.
