Song Bum-keun was born on 15 October 1997 in Seongnam, South Korea. After developing through Korea University, he joined Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in 2018 and immediately entered a high-expectation environment for a young goalkeeper.
At Jeonbuk he won multiple K League titles and became one of the league's most reliable domestic goalkeepers. He moved to Shonan Bellmare in Japan in 2023, gaining J.League experience and learning to manage a different tempo and defensive structure.
In January 2025 Song returned to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. As of May 2026 he is again with Jeonbuk, bringing Japan experience back to a club that knows his strengths and values his size, command and familiarity with title pressure.
Song has represented South Korea at youth and Olympic levels and has been called into senior squads as part of the goalkeeper depth behind Kim Seung-gyu and Jo Hyeon-woo. His senior caps have been limited, but he remains a plausible tournament reserve because of his club pedigree.
Standing around 1.94 m, Song is a right-footed goalkeeper with a large frame, strong reach and improving command of crosses. His build and penalty-area presence invite comparison with Kim Jin-hyeon, while his domestic trophy background gives him the mentality expected at Jeonbuk.
