Wikelman José Carmona Torres was born on 24 February 2003 in Valle de la Pascua, Venezuela. He began at Academia Dynamo on Margarita Island before moving into the New York Red Bulls pathway, joining a system known for pressing, transition speed and intense development demands. That environment shaped him into a left-footed attacking midfielder comfortable with high-tempo football.
Carmona progressed through New York Red Bulls II and made his MLS debut in 2021. His early senior years were interrupted by competition for minutes and the physical demands of the Red Bulls' model, but he showed flashes of creativity, close control and willingness to receive between lines. He also represented Venezuela at youth level, giving him a national-team connection even while his club development was happening in the United States.
In February 2026 he moved to CF Montréal, a transfer that gave him a fresh MLS platform and a clearer chance to define himself. Montréal's need for creative midfield options suited him, and the move kept him in a league he understands while changing the tactical and personal context around him. For a player still trying to turn promise into regular production, that reset was important.
For Venezuela he has been part of the youth national-team setup and entered the senior conversation as the 2026 cycle widened the pool. La Vinotinto's improved results have increased competition, but they also create space for creative players who can unlock tight matches. Carmona's path to regular senior caps depends on club consistency, yet his technical profile gives the staff a different type of attacking-midfield option.
Standing around 1.73 m, Carmona is a left-footed attacking midfielder who can play as a number ten, an inverted winger or a free interior. He likes to receive between lines, turn quickly and combine in short spaces, but he also has the acceleration to break into the final third. His style has hints of Yeferson Soteldo in the low centre of gravity and left-footed creativity, though Carmona is taller, less purely dribble-dominant and still searching for Soteldo's decisive end product.
