Yassine Meriah was born on 2 July 1993 in Tunis, Tunisia. He came through ES Metlaoui's youth ranks before signing with CS Sfaxien in January 2015. After developing into one of Tunisia's premier centre-backs, he moved to Olympiakos Piraeus in summer 2018, with subsequent loan spells at Kasımpaşa and Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey. He moved to Al Ain in the UAE in 2021, where he won the Arabian Gulf League and the League Cup in 2021–22.
In August 2022 Meriah returned home to Tunisia with Espérance Sportive de Tunis (ES Tunis). With ES Tunis he has been a dominant force, winning back-to-back Tunisian Ligue 1 titles in 2023–24 and 2024–25, the Tunisian Cup in 2025, and the Tunisian Super Cup in 2025. The 2025 season has produced 12 Tunisian Ligue 1 matches, 3 CAF Champions League appearances, 3 FIFA Club World Cup matches and Super Cup honours.
For Tunisia, Meriah has been a senior centre-back across multiple major tournaments. He scored a goal in 5 AFCON 2025 qualifying matches, played 4 matches at the 2025 AFCON, scored a goal at the Arab Cup, and continues to be Tunisia's senior central defender.
A 188cm two-footed centre-back with elite aerial dominance, ball-playing security and the leadership presence of a senior squad member, Meriah is one of Tunisia's most experienced defenders. He is in line to be the senior captain or vice-captain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of the most-decorated centre-backs in modern Tunisian football.
