Bright Osayi-Samuel was born on 31 December 1997 in Okija, Nigeria, and moved to England as a child. He developed at Blackpool, where he first became known as a winger with pace and direct running before Queens Park Rangers gave him a bigger Championship platform.
At QPR he matured from a raw wide player into one of the division's most dangerous dribblers. Fenerbahçe signed him in 2021, and in Turkey he was gradually converted into a right-back or wing-back, a change that unlocked a higher ceiling for club and country.
By 2025-26 Osayi-Samuel was with Birmingham City after his Turkish spell. The English return placed him in a physically demanding league where his speed, aggression and ability to carry from deep remained central to his value.
For Nigeria he debuted in 2022 and quickly became an important right-sided defender. He played at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, helping the Super Eagles reach the final, and continued through the 2026 World Cup cycle as one of the team's most dynamic full-back options.
Osayi-Samuel is a right-footed defender or wing-back, around 1.75 m, whose winger background shows in every forward run. His conversion recalls Victor Moses' move to wing-back at Chelsea, while his one-versus-one defending and burst make him a natural modern successor to Nigeria's athletic wide defenders.
