Gleiker Teodoro Mendoza Barrios was born on 8 December 2001 in Zulia, Venezuela. He began making his name in domestic football with Angostura and then Deportivo Táchira, where his direct running from wide areas and willingness to attack defenders stood out. Unlike many Venezuelan prospects who are first noticed as central technicians, Mendoza's first impression was that of a vertical wide player who wanted to turn every reception into a duel.
His performances in Venezuela earned him a move into European football, and by 2026 he was with Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine. The step was unusual but meaningful: the Ukrainian Premier League is physically demanding, transitional and often tactically intense, a setting that can accelerate a winger's education. A standout four-goal display against Dynamo Kyiv in 2026 underlined his ability to produce explosive attacking moments against strong opposition.
At Kryvbas he has operated most naturally from the left, cutting inside onto his stronger right foot while also running beyond the full-back. That role has helped him turn raw pace into more repeatable production. He is still developing the quieter parts of wing play, such as defensive tracking and final-pass selection, but regular first-team football in Europe has pushed him into a more serious category of Venezuelan prospect.
Mendoza made his Venezuela debut in January 2025 against the United States, entering the senior pool during a period when La Vinotinto were looking for more speed and one-on-one threat around their established forwards. After the disciplined collective performance of Copa América 2024, the 2026 cycle has also required players who can change matches from the bench or stretch opponents late, and Mendoza fits that requirement.
Standing around 1.84 m, Mendoza is a right-footed winger with speed, length and a strong appetite for dribbling. He can play on the left as an inverted winger or on the right as a more direct runner. His profile has flashes of Luis Díaz in the way he attacks isolated full-backs and shoots after cutting inside, though he remains earlier in his development and must still turn highlight actions into consistent match control.
