Jobe Bellingham was born on 23 September 2005 in Stourbridge, England, the younger brother of Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham. He came through Birmingham City's academy and made his senior debut at 16 in the FA Cup, eventually accumulating 24 league appearances for the club.
In June 2023 Sunderland signed him from Birmingham, and over two Championship seasons he became one of the league's most influential young players. In 2024-25 he was named EFL Championship Young Player of the Season and started in Sunderland's playoff final win, securing the club's Premier League promotion after an eight-year absence.
In June 2025 Borussia Dortmund signed him for around £27.8 million plus add-ons — the highest fee ever received by a newly promoted Premier League club. He made his Bayern debut at the FIFA Club World Cup and scored in his first competitive start.
He has represented England across every youth level from U16 to U21, and consciously chose to wear "Jobe" rather than his surname on his shirt — telling former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray he wanted to "create his own identity" rather than rely on family recognition.
His father Mark Bellingham is a former prolific non-league striker and West Midlands Police sergeant; he has Irish heritage through his father and Kenyan heritage through his mother.
A 1.85 m two-footed central / attacking midfielder, Jobe is built around stamina, late runs into the box and a willingness to drive forward with the ball, profiling as a long-term Bundesliga starter for Dortmund.
