Jake Clarke-Salter is an English defender born on 22 September 1997. He joined Chelsea's academy as a nine-year-old in 2006 and worked his way through the youth ranks to become a key figure and captain of the under-18 side. During that period he was part of a Chelsea youth team that won the FA Youth Cup three times (2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16) and the UEFA Youth League twice. He made his senior Chelsea debut on 2 April 2016, coming on as a substitute in a 4–0 win at Aston Villa, with Chelsea legend John Terry publicly praising his performance afterwards.
A composed, technically assured central defender, Clarke-Salter spent much of his time at Chelsea gaining experience through a series of loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Vitesse, and two stints at Birmingham City, before a more settled spell at Coventry City in 2021–22 where he made 29 appearances. On the international stage, he was part of the England Under-20 squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and he captained the England Under-21 side at the European Championship finals.
He left Chelsea in June 2022 and signed a four-year deal with Queens Park Rangers, where he has since established himself as a regular presence in the Championship. His performances earned him the QPR Players' Player of the Year award for the 2023–24 season, underlining the confidence his teammates place in him.
