Jeremie Frimpong was born on 10 December 2000 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Ghanaian parents and grew up between Amsterdam and Manchester. He came through Manchester City's youth setup before joining Celtic in 2019. With Celtic he won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup in 2019–20 before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021 for around €11 million.
At Bayer Leverkusen, Frimpong reinvented himself as one of Europe's most distinctive wing-backs. He was a key part of Xabi Alonso's historic 2023–24 invincible season, when Bayer won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal undefeated. The 2024–25 season brought 34 Bundesliga matches with 5 goals and 5 assists, plus 10 UEFA Champions League matches with 3 assists — outstanding production for a defensive position.
In summer 2025 Liverpool signed Frimpong, where he has continued to feature regularly: 19 Premier League matches with an assist and 9 UEFA Champions League matches by mid-season, plus a goal in both the Community Shield and the FA Cup, and a key role in Liverpool's continued top-of-the-table form.
A 171cm two-footed right wing-back with elite acceleration, attacking instincts and the stamina to play both flank duties, Frimpong has been a Netherlands regular since 2024. He represents one of the most exciting young right-backs in European football and is in line for a major role at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
