Jacob Wright is an English midfielder born on 21 September 2005, who came through the academy system at Manchester City. He made his senior debut as a second-half substitute in an FA Cup match against Huddersfield Town on 7 January 2024, marking his first appearance at the top level of the game.
One of the defining moments of his early career came on 6 March 2024, when Wright made his UEFA Champions League debut in City's round of 16 victory over Copenhagen, coming on as a substitute for Erling Haaland in the closing minutes. He had also travelled with the Manchester City senior squad to Saudi Arabia for the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, underlining the confidence the club placed in him at a young age.
A composed, box-to-box midfielder, Wright reads the game well and contributes in both defensive and attacking phases. He has represented England at youth international level, continuing his development on the international stage.
On 4 February 2025, Wright joined EFL Championship club Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the 2024–25 season. Norwich subsequently triggered their option to purchase him permanently, with Wright officially joining on 1 June 2025 on a four-year contract, with an option for a further year, for an initial reported fee of £2.3 million. The move represents a significant step in his development, with Norwich providing him a platform for regular first-team football.
